We Believe
Above all else we believe in the one true God. We believe that while this God is distinct in three persons; Father God, Son God, and Spirit God, He has made His distinctions inseparable. He is One. We see that God is the creator and redeemer of all things. All things were created by His hand and move and breathe and have their being through and for Him.
We believe that Son God humbled himself and came to earth as a man. This man Jesus was the Christ, or Messiah that had been prophesied and foreshadowed since the fall of creation. Through his earthly life and ministry we see the very nature of God displayed. While this ministry is pivotal for every person to know and dwell on, we see the deepest purposes of God displayed not in Jesus‘ life, but in His death, burial, and resurrection. Those deep purposes were the redemption of all mankind, and all of creation. In Adam’s transgression, we see that curses, sin, sickness, death, and above all separation from God came to inhabit and manifest itself in humanity. We believe that the chief end of the Christ was to be the propitiatory sacrifice for all of creation for all of time. Through His sacrifice we believe that all things have been redeemed, and all men reconciled. We find that Jesus is the yes and amen to every promise of God, and the answer to every question of man.
We believe that this redemption and reconciliation is both applied and available to all people. There is no work that can be humanly done to enter into this salvation and perfect union. It is the grace of God that fully extends these perfect gifts; to us, in us, and upon us. Only by faith in what Christ completely accomplished on the cross do we take our rightful place in this perfect covenant. Even our ability to say “yes!” to His glorious offer is enabled by divine grace, not a human will that is separate from His.
We believe the church to be that worldwide body of all that have said “yes!” to Him. We believe that this church is the real bride and body of Christ. As such it cannot be confined to a specific people, place, time or constrained in any nature. The Fathers intention was not for this body to create, or sustain, but to tend to all that He created and is sustaining. In this vein, we partner with what He is doing through the explosive nature of His Kingdom. He has called this church to work alongside Him. Not a work that buys us favor or rightness with Him, but work that overflows from our intimacy with Him. His grace and abiding Spirit enable the church to move in the power, humility, and love that answers the questions of the world, and heals the wounds from a vanquished enemy.
We see that the Bible is divinely inspired and appointed by God to be a friend and revelator to His church. We believe that the Bible is not a random collection of 66 books, but that it is a love story that flows to the cross, and now flows from it. While every piece was written and recorded FOR us, we do not believe that all of it was written TO us. In believing differently we find that some have worshipped a book instead of the Author, and turned a new covenant into a new law. This book that was divinely inspired can only be read and interpreted with a divine understanding. Through the grace of God we have been given the mind of Christ and must rely on His revelation to truly understand His written word.
As part of His body, Christ left us baptism and communion to commemorate and celebrate all that He has done for us and in us. We see these as vibrant, powerful acts full of Christ’s own joy and fresh revelation.
We believe that we are living at the end of all things. We do not know the details of what that means. We do know that Christ is returning for a glorious church, to judge all men, resurrect His righteous ones, and reveal the full extent of his triumph over darkness. While we accept our place in time joyfully, we long for the glory of His coming.
Come, Lord Jesus, come.
